Buying off the shelf fabric may seem more economical, but if it's critical that the color remains precise and consistent over time, a custom dye lot is the only way to go. Dye lot variations are common in the textile industry and color shifts will happen with 'stock' colors. However when you have your own custom dye lot created, there are much more stringent controls for the mill to meet. The result is repeatable, reliable color.
