Waxed Canvas

Waxed Canvas Fabric

Big Duck Canvas is your waxed canvas wholesale supplier. For unbeatable savings, we offer full roll pricing for makers and our B2B clients.

The water-repellent qualities and unique character of waxed canvas have been known and used in one form or another for hundreds of years. Extremely popular in the early to mid-1900s, it has in recent years seen a major resurgence.

Why the jump in interest? People are looking for a more natural, eco-friendly water-resistant material, and waxed canvas offers that—and much more. In addition to the "water repellant" nature of waxed canvas, people are understandably attracted to its good looks. This cotton material develops creases and wrinkles over time, much like a favorite old leather jacket. No other fabric patinas and wears like waxed canvas; no other material offers these characteristics.

Waxed canvas is strong and very durable, and is ideal for backpacks, work aprons, jackets, vests, dog gear, saddle bags, tote bags, book bags, storage bags, all kinds of outdoor gear and packs—just to name a few projects we've seen. (We're constantly amazed at the things you make!)

Although this canvas has amazing water repellant quality's it is not recommended for long term outdoor use, due to the suns UV rays deteriorating the wax finish.

Sewing with Waxed Canvas Material
As with most fabrics, you should regularly keep your needle and machine clean. For optimal results, we recommend sewing with our bonded polyester thread.

Cleaning Waxed Canvas
Simple! Use a soft, damp cloth or brush to spot clean as needed. Never dry clean or use any detergent; instead saddle soap and a damp cloth is recommended for stains or if additional cleaning is desired.
