Waxed Canvas Natural
Our waxed cotton canvas, like this 10oz Army Duck in Natural (non-dyed) is super popular. With its water-repellent finish, makers use waxed material to create all kinds of projects, and Natural is an ideal 'color' for many applications.
This material is very strong and resistant to tearing thanks to its tight, plied yarn weave construction. A true multipurpose canvas, the refined wax finish provides an additional layer of protection and durability while helping shed water.
Waxed canvas requires only minimal care to maintain its unique appearance, and generally doesn't need to be washed. This material uses a wax formula that functions well in cold and hot temperatures. Customers say "it sews great," and we agree! The wax is very high quality and will not transfer to other surfaces under normal use.
Common uses for waxed cotton canvas include outdoor gear, backpacks, tote bags, hats, equestrian accessories, vests, dog gear, dog beds, work aprons and so much more.
Waxed cotton canvas has a long lifespan, and is similar to leather in the way it patinas and wears over time. Normal handling will create 'craze marks' or wrinkles. Not only is this is to be expected, it is in fact part of the highly-desirable and unique characteristics of waxed cotton canvas. These marks can be reduced with the heat from a hair dryer, though most people prefer the 'worn' look, the 'character' that waxed canvas develops with regular use. Its durability and distinctive look make waxed canvas a timeless classic.
